From its fabulous live music, wonderful scenery, and legendary food, there’s definitely more to Austin than simply being the capital of Texas.

Whether you’re taking a  much-needed vacation or just passing through over the weekend, you’ll never run out of things to do in this marvelous town that the world has come to know as Bat City.

Go Bat Watching

A tour of Austin, Texas isn’t complete without experiencing one of the city’s most popular attractions.  The world-famous Congress Bridge Bats is truly a sight to behold. It’s not every day that you get to see more than a million bats cover the night sky as they take flight from the Congress Bridge to help rid the city of those pesky mosquitoes.

Estimated to be around 1.5 million, North America’s largest urban bat colony is best seen between the middle of March to early November.  Seeing these amazing creatures emerge from under the bridge as they search for food is a spectacle no tourist should miss.

5 cool things to do in Austi

Take a Dip at Barton Springs

Why just see those awesome sites when you can actually experience them?  It’s been said that cold-water swimming is the key to a long life.  Thankfully, “Austin’s Crown Jewel,” Barton Springs Pool, is here to help you prove it. Located just across the Lady Bird Lake from downtown Austin, the historic pool, according to local legend, was previously used for sacred purification rituals by the Tonkawa tribe.

Before you pay this amazing spring a visit. However, do make sure not to bring any outside food or drinks because they’re not allowed.  It would also be ideal to wear water shoes because of the pool’s algae-filled flooring.

Break out of Prison

Can you imagine how difficult it is to break out of prison?  The Escape Game, Austin’s number one escape room, allows you and your friends to find out for yourselves! Unlike real-life prison breaks, however, you and your pals need to work together to locate clues and overcome a couple of challenges in order to complete your mission.

With five different game modes to choose from, you guys are definitely in for a wonderful time.
