eucalyptus body scrub _ mortar and pestel2

Last week I had a serious fainting spell that led me to rethink the speed of my life. That mindset plus my mother asking me to make her a body scrub to help clear up some dry dark patches on her skin, inspired me to make this soothing eucalyptus body polish. It features Eucalyptus for it’s antiseptic properties, plus it smells wonderful in a steamy shower.

Eucalyptus has been used for ages for it’s unique healing properties. The oil is great for breathing when one has a sore throat or asthma. It’s also been known to be an antiseptic. The bark and leaves of this plant have numerous uses in the homeopathic world. And today, I’m sharing how to make a simple soothing eucalyptus body polish.

What You’ll Need:

1/4 c. Sea Salt

1/4 c. Coconut Oil

8 – 10 Drops of Eucalyptus Oil

Medium sized bowl

Spoon

Small Jar or Container that holds 4 oz or more

What to do:

In your bowl, pour in the sea salt and coconut oil. Then, carefully add 8 – 10 drops of Eucalyptus oil. Take a spoon and stir until thoroughly blended. If your coconut oil is hard, I recommend microwaving it for a few seconds to make it more liquefied. It should still have lumps but be smooth enough to mix easily. See image below.

Once the polish has been mixed, spoon or pour it into your container. I refrigerate mine to let the coconut oil harden, I can then scoop out a quarter sized amount with a spoon or popsicle stick.

When I fainted last week, I scraped up my arm pretty bad. I was dealing with a bad case of cramps and dehydration. And I believe that’s what led me to fainting. But, no worries, I am OK. It’s crazy because I’ve had near fainting spells in the past but I successfully avoided them by sitting down or cooling down. When I felt the fainting spell coming on, I tried to sit down, but unfortunately I didn’t make it. So yes, now I’m nursing my wounds!

The coconut in this polish will help fade any scarring from the scrape on my arm. I love sharing DIY recipes because it’s proof that living green is very easy. And playing with food and other ingredients is just plain fun!
