Being a fashion blogger is really cool. I get to live out my childhood fantasy of being a runway model/fashion magazine editor/graphic designer, I wanted to do it all when I was a kid. You see, when you are following your dreams, you run into people who have dreams as big as you do. Case in point my friend Bret Malish. Bret is the designer and owner of the fashion label Fox in Gown. Fox in Gown is a brand with bohemian flare that prides itself in using the highest quality fabrics possible. She let me play dress up in some of her newest pieces. My favorite being this 100% silk satin open face cardigan (or as I like to call it – kimono). This is why the Kimono is the perfect Fall staple piece.
Kimonos are the perfect transition piece from hot to cooler weather. Fall in Texas is just an extended Summer. We don’t truly feel the effects of Fall into late October. So, while Fall fashion is definitely on everyone’s minds, it’ll be awhile before we can pull out our warm weather pieces.
I fell in love with the newest pieces in the Fox in Gown collection. They are bold, daring, and oh so stylish. At first glance one might not know how to pull off a shimmery, gold, open cardigan. It makes quite a statement. But, paired with a black mini dress, it works out perfectly. It’s the perfect cover-up! I love how this shimmery silk kimono from Fox in Gown really elevates my black mini dress (also from Fox in Gown).
Kimonos can be a statement piece. Especially, if they are as bold and daring as this one from Reclaimed Vintage. The blue satin is loud but when paired with black faux leather leggings and a black top, it will look so chic! Don’t be afraid of color and texture this Fall.
And let’s not forget the accessories and shoes! I paired this look with two looks from ethical handbag brand Purse & Clutch. This brand employs artisans in Ethiopia and Guatemala to create gorgeous woven and leather pieces like the asymmetric leather clutch.
And because I was going for an urban vibe for this shoot, I broke out my booties from Abound. I’ve had them for two years so they are nice and broken in. They are pretty scuffed and I love how worn and lived in they look. You’ll really like this sleek sex in the city style fur bootie. They are on sale for $16.97 such a steal! Below I’ve compiled my favorite kimono|cardigan|mini dress|purse| and bootie combos because who doesn’t love options? Have fun mixing and matching these pieces, there’s a style for everyone!
