January has been a quite the month hasn’t it? If you are anything like me, I’m sure you are emotionally and possibly mentally drained as well. For me personally, January has marked a new beginning for me in multiple ways, good and bad. It’s during these times that it’s all too important to do what makes your heart sing. ‘What do you even mean by that?’ you ask. What I mean is finding reasons to be happy and enjoy life no matter your circumstances. I’ve made an effort to stay as far away as possible from all things political (not that its actually possible at this point) and really stay centered and focused on what’s going on in front of me. Right here, right now.
It’s so strange typing this knowing and hoping that someone who reads this will be touched and moved to see the brighter side of life even when things are looking pretty dim. In a previous post, I talked about how I am a big believer in the Law of Attraction. And one of my favorite things to do is to listen to Youtube videos by Abraham Hicks (a spirit that speaks through a medium-kind of kooky I know). In one of her videos, an audience member begins talking about the techniques he has used to manifest the most amazing things in his life. I was instantly inspired to try out his technique. And now I want to share it with you guys.
The Technique
Write down a list of things in your life that you enjoy doing and that instantly brighten your mood. And whenever you feel you need a emotional boost or shift, choose something off of that list and DO IT! Simple right! By doing things that make you feel good, you instantly raise your vibration. Higher vibrations attract better things!
So I want to share a few of the things on my list with you guys.
- Singing – as loud as humanly possible (I am Beyonce in my back yard)
- Dance – I can dance for hours, it truly makes me happy
- Getting outdoors
- Hiking – I actually had a wonderful hike with some girlfriends over the weekend (pic below).
- Nature watch
- Blogging – of course
- Watching French Films – Parlez-Vous Francaise? Mais oui!
- Hanging out at coffee shops
And this is just half of the list. I tried to write down as many things as possible so I’m never at a loss of what to immerse myself in. During my hiking trip Sunday, it felt so good to be outdoors in the fresh air. Austin has some wonderful hiking spots. You know what the most amazing thing about it was? We weren’t concerned about what was going on in the media. In fact the topic barely came up (of course we weren’t oblivious). It was so refreshing to just be without the stress and confusion. We were too focused on our next step because the slightest wrong move could have landed us in the water!
In these tumultuous times, I encourage you to turn off the t.v., get off of social media, and immerse yourself in something you truly love. Whether that’s spending time with your kids, going on a bike ride, whatever it is. There’s a HUGE gift waiting for you when you live in the present moment. Here’s to hoping that February brings love and peace back into our lives, if only just for Valentine’s day!
