The smoky eye is a classic look that can sometimes be hard to pull off. Done the wrong way, it can make you look like a raccoon. But, done the right way, the smoky eye is a great look for work, holiday parties, and a night out on the town. I’ve selected four products and the tools you need to create the perfect smoky eye. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see my tutorial on how to complete this look from start to finish.
The Eyeshadow Palette
There are many natural eyeshadow palettes on the market and it can be hard to decide which one is best for you. I chose the Stowaway From Dawn to Dusk palette because it’s small and perfect for travel or carrying in your purse. There are shades in this palette for every eye color.
The matte brown shadow in this palette creates a perfect base color for your smoky eye look. The shimmery dark grey color goes on the crease of your eye and adds a touch of subtle sparkle.
I began using the ELF cream eyeliner as opposed to a pencil liner for two reasons. 1) I love using my angled eyeliner brush to create the perfect cat eye. 2) It’s perfect for smudging and dries in place. After applying eyeliner, I take a smudge brush and smudge the liner in a circular motion with the brush.
I rarely wear mascara but, when I wear smokey eyes I do. I’m currently using Rodial’s Glamolash Mascara Skinny. It’s a simple straight to the point mascara that makes my eyes pop.
The final step to this look is to seal the deal with a makeup setter. I swear by Ben Nye’s makeup setter, it keeps my eyeshadow from creasing and helps my makeup look flawless all day.
